According to the Grab’s website, Grab is a transportation platform that allows passengers to hail for a car by using their smartphones. It is an application that uses both internet and GPS functions to provide a real-time information such as locations to both the passenger and driver. With such feature, the user is able to calculate the amount of time they have prior to the car ride. Furthermore, the real-time GPS function can be accessed by both the driver and rider to prevent any confusion. Grab has implemented various measures such as rating and screening of drivers to ensure the safety of the passengers. Grab allows both driver and customer to save money through the implementation of both Grabhitch and Grabshare. These two services allow passengers who are going towards the same direction to take a ride at a cheaper rate. In addition, it will help to save fuel costs as there will be lesser cars on the road. Although other transportation platforms such as Ryde (2018) also offer similar features to Grab, there are a few unique features such as the availability of wide variety of services, different mode of payment and safety features make Grab more comparable to it’s competitors.
The first unique feature of Grab is the availability of wide variety of services such as GrabCoach, GrabTaxi, GrabCar and many more. This allows users with different kind of needs to hail for a suitable car. In addition to the transportation services, Grab has also introduced GrabFood that enabled users to order food by using the same Grab’s account.
The second unique feature is that users are able to make any payment through the usage of Grabpay. Users can save more money through using Grabpay as they are able to earn GrabRewards points that can be used to redeem attractive deals.
The last unique feature that gives Grab a competitive edge would be the additional personal accident coverage, 24/7 call centres and emergency response teams. With such features, it will ensure the safety of the both the drivers and passengers.
In conclusion, the numerous features like the wide variety of services, special payment mode and safety coverage that are offered by Grab will make it a good choice for the customers.
